David Bigman
David Bigman is a professor of international trade and development and honorary chair in Global Food Security and International Trade, Faculty of Social Sciences, at Netherlands University of Wageningen. A member of dgCommunities since 2005, Dr. Bigman is professor emeritus in development economics at the Department of Agricultural Economics of the Hebrew University in Israel where he taught international trade and development for 14 years and conducted research in international trade, growth and development mostly in connection to poverty and food insecurity in the developing countries. He has also been a visiting professor at University of California-Berkeley, Indira Ghandi Institute for Development Research, India, and a senior research fellow at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Among his 10 books and many articles are Dr. Bigman's most recent book Globalization and the Least Developed Countries: Potentials and Pitfalls for which he conducted research as a fellow at the Stanford Center for International Trade. He is now working on a book entitled New Prospects and Deep-Rooted Obstacles for Africa's Revival.
